Before You Register
Please follow the steps below before starting your player’s registration.
- Confirm you’re registering for the correct hockey association.
- Rosemount Hockey follows the District 196 school feeder system: the player’s parent must live at an address assigned to an elementary or middle school that feeds into Rosemount High School.
- Use the District 196 Address Look-Up Tool (enter only your house number and city for best results).
- Understand the School Attendance Waiver Policy. As of January 2024, waivers can only be granted:
- After a player finishes Mite/8U level and before September 1 of the same year, or
- If the player is at the Jr. Gold level.
For more details, visit the Skater Waivers page.
- Prepare a birth certificate (first-year skaters only).
- First-time skaters in Minnesota organized hockey must upload a PDF or JPG of their birth certificate.
- Have the file ready before starting registration.
- This document will be deleted once it’s approved by District 8.
- Get a USA Hockey number.
- You must register with USA Hockey and have a current USA Hockey number before registering with RAHA.
- Visit USA Hockey Registration to get your number.
- Review RAHA fees and volunteer requirements.
- Read through the current registration fees and volunteer expectations on this page before you begin.
- First Year Free (girls at any level; boys at IP levels only).
- If you have a first-time skater and have not already done so, visit the First Year Free page and complete the appropriate request form.

Travel Level Team Costs
Tryouts for traveling teams: You have the option to opt out of this expense during registration; your player will automatically be placed on the lowest traveling team for that level.
Additional costs for traveling teams: All traveling teams from 10U/Squirt through Jr. Gold will have additional monthly ice bills from October through March. These range from approximately $225 to $400 per month, depending on the level and team assignment.
Important note about registration deadlines: In the 2023–2024 season, several players registered after traveling tryouts and were placed on lower teams, which led to oversized rosters. To avoid this, no registrations will be allowed after the traveling registration deadline closes. Please plan accordingly.
Planning to Try Out for a High School Team?
Jr. Gold and 15U tryouts are scheduled after high school teams are selected. However, to allow for proper planning, RAHA will open and close registration for both Jr. Gold and 15U at the same time as all other traveling levels.
Please note that no Jr. Gold or 15U registrations will be accepted after the registration deadline—even if your player doesn’t make the high school team.
If your player plans to try out for a high school team but would like to play Jr. Gold or 15U if they don’t make it, please complete the USA Hockey Bypass Form. This allows you to:
- Register your player now without purchasing the $81 USA Hockey membership
- Receive a code by email to use in place of a USA Hockey number during RAHA registration
What Happens Next?
- If your player does not make the high school team: They must provide a valid USA Hockey number before being allowed to participate in Jr. Gold or 15U tryouts.
- If your player does make the high school team: Your RAHA registration and tryout fees will be fully refunded within 7–10 business days.
