About the Initiation Program

At RAHA, we believe hockey is more than just a sport—it’s an opportunity to grow, learn, and have fun together.

Program Overview

The Rosemount Area Hockey Association Initiation Program (IP) is the foundation to the overall success of your skater. Introducing young athletes 8 years and under to the game of hockey in a safe and fun environment, IP focuses on skating and skill development via stations, small area games, and cross/half-ice scrimmages.

We create a culture that progressively challenges players of all abilities, motivating skaters to return to the game of hockey. In partnership with the Hockey Development Committee and coaches, IP delivers a consistent experience through cutting-edge instruction, resources, and evaluation methods to support player development.

The levels of play are Termites (4–5 year old boys and girls), 6U and 8U for girls, and Mini-Mites (6–7 years) and Mites (7–9 years) for boys. IP is designed to teach the fundamentals of skating, passing, and basic hockey skills in a fun, high-energy environment that builds confidence and a love for the game.

Our focus is on development, not competition, through practices that challenge players while keeping the experience enjoyable and rewarding.
