First Year Skaters Free in 2026–27

RAHA wants to grow the game for boys and girls. If your athlete wants to play and has never played organized hockey before, this is a great time to get started. Thanks to generous sponsor support, RAHA is offering free registration for qualifying first-time players.

All first-time boys (Initiation Program levels: Termites, Mini-Mites, and Mites) and first-time girls (all levels including Termites, 6U, 8U, and Traveling) receive free registration for the 2026–27 season.

Complete the First Year Free Request Form below. After your request is reviewed and approved, you will receive a code to waive the registration fee and any applicable late fees during sign-up.

Registration opens July 16. Last year’s registration fees were: Termites — $225, Mini-Mites/6U — $375, Mites/8U — $525, Girls Traveling — $180. View registration details.

Important notes

  • Offer applies to first-time players only (no previous organized hockey).
  • A reversible, sublimated jersey and a pair of game socks are provided; all other game equipment must be supplied by the family. See the New to Hockey page for equipment help and Minnesota Wild programs.
  • USA Hockey membership is not included (typically $17–$71 depending on age).
  • Families with girls skating for the first time at traveling levels are responsible for monthly ice bills.
  • Families are responsible for their share of team-related expenses, if applicable (maximum $150). This typically applies to Mini-Mite, Mite, 8U, and Girls Traveling.
  • Volunteer hours are still required.
